Philodendron billietiae is such a gorgeous philodendron and probably one of our all time favorite aroids! The mature leaves are a deep jade green color while the newly emerging leaves are a bright lemon-lime color and the petioles are a deep reddish/orange. The linear leaves grows really large while the plant itself sits upright which goes back to main stalk and root section. Alot like how anthurium veitchii look, billietiae's leaves look like they are suspended in air. This species grows quite large, approx. 3-5 ft and is certainly a must have for any aroid lover.
Like all aroids, P. billietiae grows in warm high humidity, moist soil and bright light. We currently have them growing in part sun/part shade as understory plants under palm canopy. I swear everytime I look at them they look bigger every day, like they are puffing their chest out, like look at me! P. billietiae's can grow from a compact central space rather than it's vining/trailing relatives. So if you are looking to grow them as houseplants in a pot then you should be quite successful though it might eventually need a structure to hang on to.
Though be aware for all you pet owners and parents to check whether any plant has poisonous elements to it before introducing it as a house plant. The philodendron family is considered poisonous if parts of the actual plant are ingested. Here is a link for your concerns on the symptoms and treatment for philodendrons because we are animal lovers and parents as well.
Our philodendron billietiae's are sold in a 6-inch pot and approx. 24-30 inches high, they are literally growing out of their pots. Because it is a living plant we expedite shipping to make sure the plant arrives healthy and alive. Please read the section about our plants on our FAQs page for more information.
